10 Piano Styles You can learn to play
In studying the piano, a student encounters a myriad piano styles. To control the instrument at least several of these styles must be learned, and all if possible. Knowledge of various playing styles enables a pianist to enjoy and play in all genres and styles POLINAT Cross to create a fusion he or she may call themselves.
Many modern styles are based on the blues piano. Blues focus on involving major and minor pentatonic scales, with an additional note included. Flatted fifth is added to the minor pentatonic scale to create the blues scale. Many blues songs based on a simple chord progression, known as the 12-bar blues. Use the I, IV and V chords of a scale to create a foundation for melodies and solos.
For example, rock piano blues was born and then took their own life in the style of Jerry Lee Lewis, Michael McDonald, Elton John, Billy Joel, and many others.
Cocktail piano is a style generally associated with Liberace, Eddy Duchin, Roger Williams, and others who play popular songs with a lot of great technique – lots of notes, runs, flowers, and so on. But I do not categorize these great pianists, like many of them play in other styles.
a boogie-woogie piano is based on the blues. Began as a solo piano style, but has spread to other genres, such as the county's western and gospel. It differs from the sadness that is considered dance music, while traditional blues music that expresses sadness and frustration.
Rhythm and blues piano is based on blues, jazz and gospel styles. As its name suggests, it is emphasis on the rhythm of the song. Most R & B has a particular swing it, with a strong sense of syncopation in the rhythm. Syncopation involves placing emphasis at a normal rate without restriction. This often results in an almost out of time to feel the untrained ear.
Ragtime piano also incorporates syncopation. Ragtime uses syncopation in its melodies through the placement of melodic notes between strokes off the pace. Ragtime is often considered the first fully gender American jazz even before.
jazz piano encompasses such a variety of styles of the mouth is impossible to describe. Many piano styles incorporate ideas borrowed from jazz, and improvisation. The emphasis on extended chord forms and agreement to re-alignment is also derived from jazz.
new age piano often involves less change chord to the styles of others, but that depends on the progress and simpler polychords. Noise often imitates nature babling streams, wind, rain, and so on. A polychord occurs when two different strings are played at once. This technique is taken from previous works of classical composers like Stravinsky.
gospel piano is often similar to blues, jazz and R & B. It focuses on some extended chords such as 11, and usually has the swinging feel associated with jazz and R & B. The apparent simplicity of gospel songs often hides the fact that they are actually very complex musically. Syncopation is highly stressed in gospel music, as it contributes to the feeling general spiritual music.
Country and western piano has similar roots to the blues piano. Both styles are derived from earlier folk styles, often developed by the less fortunate people of the time. Many country songs principles are derived from Appalachian folk songs. Country piano and west stands playing very bright with simple chord progressions in the melody. One of the largest in this style is Floyd Cramer.
Sacred Piano Traditional styles involve reading chants liturgy and hymns. You can be the rhythmic and harmonically complex to the simple two or three songs in agreement. Many strains of the anthems of the popular songs of centuries past. The variety of sacred piano styles is as numerous as the liturgical chants. These piano styles often involve a strict reading of notation, with less emphasis on personal interpretation than other styles.
The classical piano style is probably the most diverse styles. Classical music is older than other styles, and is considered sufficiently motivated to music education. Many elements of other styles of music from classical piano, and almost all forms the theory of music is used in classical music. André Previn is a classic example of a trained classical pianist in the world of jazz, and great success. Classical music usually requires intense training to master, but there are many simple pieces designed with the novice player in mind.
Though classical is often considered the climax of the music, not necessarily the case. " For example, many players who are "classically trained" have trouble adapting to the feeling and the sincerity of the blues. For this reason, a player must be fully adaptable and learn all about each of these styles of piano as possible. Thus, the player is ready for any musical challenge. And besides, who knows where the future of music is it?
