The ads are everywhere, "0% financing for 60 months", "No interest for 4 years." As attractive as it may seem, not always the best option if you finance the purchase of new cars. Here are three things to watch for when the decision to take the road of 0% interest.
Buying too many cars
When presented with the offer of 0% financing some people think it's a shame not to have so many cars they can get. Even if you do not remember that there is no interest payments. And more expensive the car (or not), plus payment.
Bait and switch
You've chosen your car, negotiated the price you want and are ready to enter the finance office. Everything goes according to plan until the finance manager tells that because of your credit, you do not qualify for 0% financing. And now?
You've invested time and emotions in the car and I hate to walk. You can hear what the CFO has to say. He says you do not qualify for the 0% interest, you can get an excellent rate of bank use. And, well, it would that increase your monthly payment of $ 20 compared with no-interest financing. Sounds good. You say: "I will have less time than a month, no problem." But there is a problem: if you multiply $ 20 X 60 months, the price of your car just went for $ 1,200!
At this point, you can do one of three things: 1) up and walk away from your face, 2) give up and buy the car in higher interest rates or 3) go out and try to find their own financing on better terms and buy back your car with these funds.
The small print reimbursement
Most times, when you take advantage of 0% financing at the dealership, you will lose all refunds may be available for the car. The fine print in advertising said something like "financing to 0% instead of discounts. Here's a good online calculator and do some math. Here is an example of when taking delivery rather 0% actually save you money.
Example: Suppose you buy a car for $ 15,000 and you can get a discount of $ 3.000 or 0% financing for 60 months.
0% financing – monthly payments = 250 $ (15 000 $ / 60)
funding of 6% discount $ 3,000 (again, use an online calculator for your specific situation) – the monthly payment = $ 231.99
The use of rebates instead of 0% financing save $ 18.01 per month or $ 1,080.60 60-month loan.
The lesson here – 0% financing is not always the best deal.
